This book is distinguished from other publications thanks to a number of innovative features. It gives centre place to the images of the various models in question, specifically the Abarth racing GTs, privileging contemporary photographs, almost all of them previously unpublished. The period examined runs from 1949, the year of the official founding of Abarth & C, through to 1971, the conclusion of Abarth’s independent history with its acquisition by Fiat. The book examines only those cars that were raced and they are all documented within the context of specific events. The main aim of the text is to record, year by year, the most evident aesthetic and mechanical modifications made to the individual models. The documentation has all been drawn from rigorously contemporary books, magazines and official programmes and has been faithfully reproduced.

A photographic album with the best pictures of Nedo Coppini: the drivers, the cars and the events on the Mugello circuit.

For 30 years from 1927 until 1957 the real Mille Miglia was the “race of excellence”. A unique event of over 1,600 kilometres across Italy, the stars of which were some of the world’s greatest car manufacturers, among them Alfa Romeo, Mercedes-Benz, Maserati, Ferrari, Jaguar and Aston Martin. And their cars were driven, naturally, by some of the equally great champions of the time, like Tazio Nuvolari, Achille Varzi, through to Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss as well as Alberto Ascari, Clemente Biondetti, Piero Taruffi and many others. Count Giannino Marzotto won the race twice in Ferraris in 1950 and 1953 and said the Mille Miglia was “a synthesis of dynamism, freedom, challenge, courage and calculation”. The story, or better the stories, of that legendary race live again in this book, which tells the tales of the classic “Bresciana”, first of all through hundreds of pictures, most of them unpublished and coming from the Novafoto-Sorlini Archive, an important collection featuring the shots taken by the official race photographer Alberto Sorlini, between 1947 and 1957. The text has been written by Leonardo Acerbi, who also wrote “Mille Miglia Story 1927-1957”.

DALLA 124 ALLA 124 / FROM 124 TO 124

The return of FIAT Abarth 124 Spider has certainly made a mark in many fans of the brand and in some racing drivers who helped to create the myth of the Scorpio’s home. Maurizio Verini is one of them, from start to growth especially in the rally racing terms of Abarth 124, he found the motivation to write a captivating book, not only of memories, but also to scenarios. It’s not about nostalgia, but a link from past to future. When a champion is struck by novelty, that can bring interesting stories, with the adventure testimony of fellow race drivers that Verini lived a protagonist. His racing career is actually heavily marked by Abarth, in a time when racing and especially rallies were strongly developing. With the Fiat Abarth 124 Rally won a European Championship, in a period in which he lived a moment dream, confronting and exceeding his ability at the same level of the best racing drivers in the world. Verini spent many years with Abarth, contributing substantially to the developments that made the car a winning car with three world titles also with other Fiat models. Therefore it’s logical that the pilot, author of this book, welcomed the return to competition with favourable enthusiasm of a car very close to his heart. Since its introduction, the rally Abarth 124 was able to take an innovative passion. In a racing car world often cars are very similar to each other, the modern interpretation of such an icon of the past represents a new way to offer itself in the field in search of a more spectacular dimension.
