Bolzano-Mendola, history! Forty-three editions organized over sixty years from 1930 to 1988. Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Osca, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Abarth, Osella, Lola, BMW and many others are the car manufacturers that have challenged along the 14 kilometers of the Tyrolean high-climbing race.
Giovanni Bracco, Piero Valenzano, Odoardo Govoni, Eugenio Castellotti, Lorenzo Bandini, Ludovico Scarfiotti and then Johannes Ortner, Ernest Prinoth, Herbert Demetz, Tony Pelizzoni, Peter Schetty, Sepp Gregger, Herbert Stenger, Arturo Merzario, Ezio Baribbi and Mauro Nesti, they are only some of the most representative names of the race, thanks to the victories they have conquered in the long and wonderful history of Bolzano-Mendola. The chronicle of all 43 editions has been scheduled with interviews with a large number of drivers who have contributed to writing important and funny pages of the event, all accompanied by over 1000 absolutely unpublished and kindly presented color and black and white photographs.
To complete the work, there is a double appendix for the other two regional climbing races, Bressanone Sant’Andrea and Val Martello, with a dozen editions held for both and attached to the volume is a 15x21 booklet of approximately 100 pages containing the complete rankings of all three races.
