GIRAMONDO LIBERO IN VIAGGIO CON LA VESPA O CON LO ZAINO

The roads of the Indias on a Vespa is the title of one of the new chapters that comprise this on-the-road account by Giorgio Caeran, the untiring traveller and explorer, protagonist of a series of fascinating journeys embarked upon “with good experience and lively enthusiasm”. A Vespa 200 Rally took the author all the way to India, passing through Kurdistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and visiting legendary locations like Kathmandu, Calcutta and Bombay. On foot, his rucksack and sleeping bag on his back, Caeran then continued his adventures in darkest Africa, came face to face with the desert and then moved on to Latin America, all the way down to Tierra del Fuego. “Gira mondo libero” is a passionate traveller’s diary, which enables the reader to discover fascinating locations, rich in history and culture.

HONDA CB 750 FOURS

In a list of the 10 most significant motorcycles in two-wheel history, there is no doubt that the Honda 750 must take one of the top places. But it would also be included if the list were to be whittled down to five models – or and even three. Because when the machine went on sale in 1969, it radically changed the world motorcycle panorama. If two wheeled machines were seen as a mere substitute for the car in previous decades, a spartan vehicle and, with rare exceptions, one of little fascination, a revolution took place with the arrival of the Four.
Now, the motorcycle – this motorcycle – is even preferred to an open sports car in that it is a vehicle of enthusiasts’ dreams due to its extremely modern appearance and high performance: for the first time, a production bike was capable of 200 kph. The technical content was extraordinary, with its 4-cylinder engine, which had previously been reserved for racing, the front disc brake and its five speed gearbox. On top of that, the machine had an electric starter, a feature that alone pushed many a “motorcyclist” into buying it, people who until that day would never have dreamt of giving up their 4-wheel transport the day before the Four came out. Competition was off-guard, so the arrival of the 750 meant the opposition immediately aged at least 10 years. And if that’s not a revolution…

MINI - LE VETTURE CHE HANNO FATTO LA STORIA

Some cars are able to leave their mark an era, their names written indelibly not only on the history of four-wheel transport, but also the much more significant trends and culture of their time. Among them are the Fiat 500 and the Volkswagen Beetle, but also the unforgettable Mini. The small, revolutionary car designed by Alex Issigonis and presented in 1959, was produced right through to the next millennium by a number of manufacturers (Austin, Morris, Innocenti) in so many different versions. This book tells the industrial, technical and sporting story – including the giant-killing Monte Carlo Rally victories – of this authentic milestone of the 20th century.
