Passionate about motorsports, Norbert Santos has become an automobile manufacturer to create more efficient and safer cars. Thus he founded Norma in 1986, a name that associates the first syllable of his first name with that of a dead friend. Thus was born the M4 model, transformed two years later into M5.
Responding to Marcel Tarres' request, Norbert built a spyder with which the latter won the Alfa Romeo Proto Sport Cup. The second success came in 1994 when Bernard Chambérod and Andres Vilarino, respectively French and European Mountain Champions in the sports car category, chose Norma. The St-Pé-de-Bigorre brand takes off. The victories follow one another.
Third important step in 2003, when under the guidance of Guillem Roux, a young engineer, Norma developed the M20 which imposed itself on the national race tracks, attracting the envy of the other competitors. Simone Faggioli, five-time European Champion, chooses the Norma in 2014, the year in which Nicolas Schatz obtains his second consecutive title of French Champion with an M20 FC, the latest evolution of the M20.
There are also Norma's first approaches on the Formula 1 circuits. From the imperfect M14 to the courageous M2000 and the powerful M20 FC, from Daytona to Le Mans via Sebring, Norma takes up the challenge of increasingly fierce competition. No project is impossible to achieve, as Romain Dumas will demonstrate, by winning the Pikes Peak hillclimbing race three times, the hardest in the world in this specialty.
