Product description
Tonino Tognana was born in Treviso in May 1955, the fifth generation of a family of industrialists who, from the bricks sector, then diversified in 1946 – thanks to his father – in the world of ceramics and tableware.
The only son with four sisters, since he was a child he focussed his passion mainly on racing cars.
After years of apprenticeship with Opel, thanks to the good results he manages to drive competitive, semi-official and official cars, from various houses: from Fiat Abarth to Ferrari, from Lancia to Porsche.
In the course of his racing career he is behind the wheel of 31 different cars, managing to win at the debut on 10 occasions.
He is the only driver, in Ferrari’s long history, to have led a Cavallino Rampante car to victory in a National International Rally Championship (1982), a competition traditionally dominated by other Manufacturers.
He retired from a semi-professional career at the age of 28, to devote himself to family businesses.
The pages of this book, full of anecdotes and curiosities, tell a lot about the pilot Tonino.
Going through the story, it will be easy to intuit how in him “brain, liver and foot” combine perfectly.
However, the question remains: how far could he have gone, if he had not retired at his best moment?
But at the end of the reading, each reader will have elaborated their own answer.
To complete the work, a DVD with original and unpublished images tells the winning ride of the 1982 Italian International Rally Championship, aboard the Ferrari 308 GTB.
