The editorial project curated by Enrico and Paolo Borgogno with Thomas Popper and the authors Gianni Tonti, Emanuele Sanfront and Sergio Remondino, with the photographic support of Roberto Piccinini of Actualfoto and the video of Helmut Deimel, has taken three years of work. Documentary research, interviews with the protagonists of the time, photographs and various original documentation were carried out. More than 300 people have collaborated directly with their memories and material. The work, printed in a single limited edition with numbered copies, is made up of six volumes. The first volume, 444 pages long, written by Gianni Tonti (technical director of the Racing Lancia Department) with the collaboration of Emanuele Sanfront, tells the story of Stratos, from its birth to the end of its official sporting career. The second volume, by Gianni Tonti and Thomas Popper, contains the story of the protagonists and the exclusive photos of the tests and trials that the Lancia Stratos have carried out between one rally and another and those that bring to life the climate and the people who worked and lived in Borgo San Paolo in the legendary Reparto Corse. A “family archive”, a historical relic of unpublished photos where the skills of mechanics, technicians and men and women Lancia are highlighted. In three other volumes, each of 444 pages, Emanuele Sanfront, Sergio Remondino and the testimonies of the protagonists tell the official Stratos and their competitive history. Here are revealed, for each of the almost 200 races, the data, the memorabilia, the images and especially the emotions of those who lived the event: a mix of fun moments, panic, despondency but also and above all passion and enthusiasm. The work is completed by a box/book containing 8 hours of video in 6 DVD-rom with the recording of tests/tests and rallies, divided by year and then by livery (Marlboro, Alitalia, Pirelli, Chardonnet, Aseptogyl, …).
