ALFA ROMEO GIULIA - COPIA FIRMATA DALL’AUTORE! / SIGNED COPY BY THE AUTHOR!

Even today, to many people the Alfa Romeo Giulia is synonymous with Alfa itself. It was certainly a legendary car and a fundamental one to the brand. It first appeared as the heir to the apparently irreplaceable Giulietta, but it was able to repeat its predecessor’s success, turning the motoring world into turmoil. From comments in the press on the eve of the new car’s presentation in 1962, the word that recurred more than any other was “originality”: a new design that was at first controversial and later loved unreservedly, new technological developments and higher performance. And the Arese factory at which it was built was also new. The Giulia dominated the market until 1977, but even after that it never left the hearts of enthusiasts. The car’s history, the versions, its motor sport career and pictures of an epoch are all between the covers of this book. As is a “small guide” for those who acquire now or are “returning” to this great Alfa Romeo.

ALFA ROMEO GTA "LEGGERA" e VINCENTE - COPIA FIRMATA DALL’AUTORE! / SIGNED COPY BY THE AUTHOR!

Born mid-way through the Sixties, the Alfa Romeo Giulia GT successfully inherited the legacy of the Giulietta Sprint. Until its presentation, the company’s top management at Arese, near Milan, also considered a version suited to racing, which could bring back glorious days gone by. The car became the GTA – the “A” for Alleggerita; or lightened – a car that immediately transformed itself into the one to beat, able to dictate the law on all the circuits of the world and win everything there was to win until the mid-Seventies.That fascinating and unrepeatable story is told by Maurizio Tabucchi, one of the leading Alfa Romeo authorities who, through a precise and thoroughly accurate text, reconstructs the technical and sporting history of this unforgettable Alfa Romeo. The book is illustrated by invaluable and often previously unpublished archive pictures.

AUTOBIANCHI A112 ABARTH - COPIA FIRMATA DALL’AUTORE! / SIGNED COPY BY THE AUTHOR!

Unlike the previous editions of the ’90s, this book concentrates on the Abarth 58 and 70 HP versions of the Autobianchi A112, the rarest of all and the most sought after by collectors. This is an across the board analysis of the car: it contains a general historic introduction on Autobianchi, Carlo Abarth and the A112 itself. They were the cars that began the decline of Abarth in 1971, and the book contains an analysis of the entire evolution of the seven series that succeeded them in the following 14 years of production. There is also a section devoted to documentation: the use and maintenance manuals, catalogues, leaflets, advertising and a segment giving advice on the Abarths’ identification, purchase, restoration and quotations. The book is completed by the car’s sports career in Italy and other countries, culminating in the eight Trofeo A112 Abarth 70HP events and closes with reference to today, including the vintage races and the various clubs devoted to this important car.

DESTRA3 LUNGA CHIUDE Quando i rally avevano un’anima - COPIA FIRMATA DALL’AUTORE! / SIGNED COPY BY THE AUTHOR!

The rallies of yesterday, the ones that spanned 30 years from 1960 to 1990 were not just simple races, but a concentration of adventure. They were excessively long, tortured that took place over of roads with impossible surfaces, the drivers always prepared for the worst. Day and night, searing sun or pouring craven rain, then snow and fog, dust and ice. The drivers had to compete in cars that broke, fitted with tyres unable to withstand the harshness of it all. A perfect contest to generate an incredible story. So here is a collection of various facts, many of which it has been difficult to track down, which could help those who were there at the time to remember, and those who weren’t to get to know. Page after page review an unrepeatable era in which there were not just the winners, but the surrounding companies, defeats born with the same dignity as victories, painful team orders and those who made generous gestures in renouncing a win to help a colleague in difficulty.
Fifty incredible stories that bring out once more recollections the memory cannot cancel. Times when rallies really were rallies. Things that happened that really were over the top, sometimes a good situation because, although they seem like romanticised tales, they were no more than the rule in those days. Carlo Cavicchi competed in just such rallies and wrote about them in the Italian motor sport magazines Autosprint and Rombo. Now, he has reopened his notebook and extracted the best of the best from it. Some stories really do induce dreams, told as they are by Jean-Claude Andruet, Attilio Bettega, Dario Cerrato, Hannu Mikkola, Raffaele Pinto, Tony Fassina, Luciano Trombottto, Maurizio Verini, Mauro Pregliasco, Sergio Barbasio and Amilcare Ballestreri. All rally drivers who really did write the history of their period. And all of them told by a great professional of the sport, Carlo Cavacchi.

The people the author has selected as the stars of this book are:

Rauno Aaltonen, Erik Carlsson, Pentti Airikkala, Markku Alén, Jean-Claude Andruet, Fulvio Bacchelli, Amilcare Ballestrieri, Sergio Barbasio, Attilio Bettega, Miki Biasion, Marc Birley, Tony Carello, Dario Cerrato, Jim Clark, Bernard Darniche, Per Eklund, Tony Fall, Guy Fréquelin, Kyösti Hämäläinen, Paddy Hopkirk, Harry Källström, Simo Lampinen, Bosse Ljungfeldt, Timo Makinen, Shekhar Mehta, Hannu Mikkola, Michèle Mouton, Sandro Munari, Federico Ormezzano, Alcide Paganelli, Raffaele Pinto, Fabrizia Pons, Mauro Pregliasco, Carlos Reutemann, Walter Röhrl, Carlos Sainz, Joginder Singh, Jean-Luc Thérier, Pauli Toivonen, “Tony” (Tony Fassina)

From the mid-Fifties, Don Ruspa became the friend and confidante of some of the greatest Formula 1 drivers, among them Fangio, Bandini, Lauda, De Angelis, right through to today’s champions. His story is told in an easy-reading book by the ever able pen of Cesare De Agostini who, after a long interview with Don Sergio, really does reconstruct the life, death and miracles of this racers’ priest.

FERRARI REX Biografia di un grande italiano del Novecento - COPIA FIRMATA DALL’AUTORE! / SIGNED COPY BY THE AUTHOR!

FERRARI REX is the book on the life of Enzo Ferrari that had yet to be written. It is the definitive biography, the work that redefines the life of a 20th century giant as the epic quest of a man as complex, tormented and versatile as no other in motor racing history. Comprising over 1,100 pages, the book features previously unpublished photographs, was five years in the writing and is the fruit of eight years’ painstaking study of newspapers, periodicals and above all documents and private papers made available for the first time. First hand accounts from some of the members of the circle closest to the man from Maranello add further depth. FERRARI REX explains for the first time the mystery of Enzo’s two birth dates, tells the story of his first flawed entrepreneurial attempt until its humiliating fiasco; deals with Enzo’s personal relationship with the Fascist regime before and during the war and with Communist leaders in post–war Italy and opens an unprecedented window on Enzo’s complicated and grief-stricken personal life while going to the roots of his much talked about reputation as a womanizer. The Enzo Ferrari that emerges from the pages of FERRARI REX is a man in all his immense complexity with a larger-than-life self-confidence, ruthlessness and unashamed vulgarity but also surprisingly charming, unexpectedly frail and blessed with an unwavering faith in himself and an unsuspected life-long optimism.

FORGHIERI ON FERRARI 1947 TO THE PRESENT- COPIA FIRMATA DA M. FORGHIERI! / SIGNED COPY BY M. FORGHIERI!

Many of the Ferrari single seaters and sports racers that won world championships were born of the imagination of Mauro Forghieri and designed by him. That was the case with the John Surtees 1964 158 F1 and the unbeatable Ts of the Lauda-Regazzoni era. The same can be said of the 250 P, the 330 P3 and P4, as well, naturally, as the 312 ‘PB’, the unquestioned protagonists among the sports racing cars of the 1960s and 1970s. The life of the outstanding Mauro Forghieri is told in this book, in which noted stories, especially those that have remained unpublished for years, intertwine in an riveting narrative, supported by a wealth of absolutely unpublished illustrations, a large portion of which come from the publisher’s archives.

FORMULA 1 & MONZA IMMAGINI DI UNA CORSA/A RACE IN PICTURES - COPIA FIRMATA DALL’AUTORE! / SIGNED COPY BY THE AUTHOR!

Finally available, “Formula 1 & Monza” is a significant work recounting two realities – the Monza Autodromo and Formula 1 – that have always been inextricably linked by a single celebrated event: the Italian Grand Prix. From back in 1948, when the World Championship had yet to be born, Monza was welcoming cars from the “blue ribbon formula” to the track winding through the Royal Park. This long and fascinating story of drivers and races, of tears and joy, is told in a rich volume presenting through rare and spectacular photos both the racing and the human side that has always been such a feature of the Italian Grand Prix. Featuring in the first part of the book are the over 60 editions of the race while in the second the story is developed with a series of portraits of those drivers whose name has become associated with the history of the Autodromo and those teams that have written unforgettable chapters in the history of motorsport on the Monza track. Adding further depth are chapters on the boundless passion of the Monza crowd – such a major part of the history of this race - the evolution of the circuit, the Autodromo as a film set or a privileged setting for long test sessions or an incomparable stage for the many VIPs who have always populated the paddock and pits. Tracing the history of the one and only authentic “Temple of Speed” is Enrico Mapelli, a Monza journalist and a great expert in the history of the Autodromo past and present. His story is illustrated with around 900 colour and black and white photographs, many previously unpublished and most drawn from the publisher’s own archives (specifically the collections of the photographers Erminio Ferranti, Danilo Recalcati and Franco Villani) or from other professional photographers who gravitated around the circuit.
