One of the most successful titles of the “Racing Lives” series was devoted to Tazio Nuvolari in 2003, the 50th anniversary of the death of the “Flying Mantuan”. Now, the 12th volume in the series is a new biography of Achille Varzi, the driver who was one of Nuvolari’s proudest antagonists and certainly the one who, with Tazio, divided the Italians into two factions of unyielding passion. It is no coincidence that this book makes reference in its title to both of these unforgettable motor racing personalities of the sport’s golden age between the two world wars of the 20th century: Varzi: The dark shadow of Nuvolari. The text resumes that of another little best seller published by Giorgio Nada Editore, Una Curva Cieca, also by Giorgio Terruzzi, which appeared in 1991 and is now in a much more extensive version with over 200 photographs and a vast array of documentation. The project and editing of the work is once more by Gianni Cancellieri, while the preface has been written by his traditional partner, Cesare De Agostini.

REGAZZONI E’ SEMPRE QUESTIONE DI CUORE

Clay Regazzoni, a champion of motor racing and popularity, a winner of the Grands Prix, in which he was a star for seven years driving a Ferrari, but also a man who, on 30 March 1980, lost the use of his legs in a crippling accident at Long Beach. The book covers once more the story of an extraordinary life lived for almost 20 years in the driving seats of 300 kph racing cars and for 26 years in a wheelchair. But even in that situation he competed in cars with special hand controls and so Clay continued to be a protagonist of world motor sport: he was equally at home in short circuit races, vintage car events and event marathons like the Paris-Dakar. Now, his adventurous life is retold with an intensity of emphasis by Cesare De Agostini, author of this 13th title in the “Racings Lives” series, with the book project and management, as usual, by Gianni Cancellieri, integrated with extensive appendices and illustrated with over 300 pictures, many of them rare or previously unpublished.

NUVOLARI: IL ROMBO DEL CIGNO - COPIA FIRMATA DALL’AUTORE / SIGNED COPY BY THE AUTHOR!

Many pages have been written about the evergreen Tazio Nuvolari and his legend. But until now there has been no book that looks specifically at the final years of the Flying Mantuan’s victorious and dramatic career. In 1947 and 1948, he was the undisputed king of the Mille Miglia, driving a Cisitalia and a Ferrari. By this time physically and morally tormented by the premature death of his two young sons, the old champion was still able to impose his unquestioned class on two memorable races. This riveting episode in the history of motor racing is told in a book by Mario Donnini, renowned motor racing journalist, who restored to its original splendour the bonnet lost by Nuvolari during the 1948 Mille Miglia after its successful recovery. This important reanimation was the pretext on the basis of which to tell of these epic deeds during those races through a thrilling text, numerous photographs and documents of the period.
